Book Review: 1632 (Ring of Fire book #1)

      1632  by Eric Flint, was a book that I recently found as I was looking through the library app for something interesting Sci-fi to read.  It doesn't fit into the sub-genres that I usually look for, but I found it to be a fun read.     The book starts out in the modern age. The opening scene takes place in a small town called Grantville in West Virginia. A wedding is underway and a few out of towners are gathered with the locals celebrating the wedding. All is as it should be until everything changes, for good.     The power to the town goes out and a what is described as a ring of fire is seen by some in the sky.  A group goes to investigate a finds the road to town has been cut.  The group saves a farmgirl and her mother from oddly dressed solders. The group of small town miners and farmers meet out some good ole fashioned American justice.     Later the townspeople find out that the entire town has been transported to Europe in the middle of The Thirty Years War.
